John began his career at the age of 16, running camera for a local production company in Scranton Pennsylvania. He fell in love with the idea of working on feature films. Upon graduating from Film School, John pursued his passion to become a Director of Photography. He knew there was much more to the job than simply pointing a camera and started his quest at Disney/MGM by accepting a position in the Lighting and Grip department. There he was introduced to the world of camera motion by becoming a CamRemote technician and operator. This was a game changer for his career.
While at Disney/MGM, John was offered a position with Chapman/Leonard Studio Equipment as their East Coast Remote Head Technician. He was introduced to Tony Foresta an emmy award winning Steadicam Operator, and took his first Steadicam class. John trained under Tony until his move to Nashville where he began operating Steadicam for Directors Peter Zavadil, Eric Welch and Tommy Oliphant. John quickly established himself in Nashville as a Steadicam Operator as well as a Key and Dolly Grip. His work with camera movement on Lone Star’s “Amazed” contributed to Director Trey Fanjoy winning a Music Video of the Year Award as well as many other nominations for which he contributed his expertise in camera motion.
In 2002 John returned to Florida, taking a position as a Director/DP for a local production company, working on regional ads whilst continuing his work as a Steadicam operator on various creative projects.
John returned to the freelance world in 2014 and began working as a Key and Dolly Grip on countless commercial productions. As the demand for Steadicam operators grew, John saw a void in the Central Florida Region and returned to his true passion. He purchased his rig and has been operating ever since.
